Today I want to talk about “The Real You”
Are you who people say you are or are you who God says you are? Will the real you please stand up! At one point or another in our lives we have either settled and/or accepted what others have suggested we are or should be. Well I don’t know about you but I refuse and have refused to be a victim of this. We have two options to base who we are on. The first one being, is do I let my life dictate to me or do I allow the life that God said I can, will and do have, to come into fruition. Once you choose your option the real you will be manifested.
If I look at my life with all its positives and negatives I will either think I’m better or worse than I really am. So I decided why not value my life on who God says I am. In Jeremiah the first chapter God says He knew me before I was formed. This verifies that everything that I am or will become is no surprise to God but to me. I could pull out all the positives scripture from the bible and get happy and say this is who I am or will be according to God”. News Flash, there are also many scriptures that suggest what we would call a negative. For example, the scriptures that speaks about liars, thieves, fornicators, adulterers, backbitters, doubters, complainers, and one who covets and so many more. So who is the real me or you? In our lives if we be honest we will admit we have been one or more of these at some point. However, through the precious blood of Jesus we have been afforded the opportunity to no longer be a victim of these sinful ways.
The saying you hear Christians say often “I am what God says I am”, always speaking in a positive sense. This is a true statement with guidelines. When we don’t do what God says, we are no longer operating in who God said we are, instead we have forfeited who He formed us to be. To sum this all up and make it least complicated is this, as I stated earlier, God knew us before we were formed, yet He also gives us free will to be who we want to be. With this free choice of will He continues to remind us to be like Him, while taking on His characteristics and attributes. If we don’t, the failure of who we have become is not in Him it’s in us. Maybe you know the real you, maybe you are still searching for the real you, maybe you are in denial of the real you. But know this, the real you was formed before there you came into being. I’m suggesting this, let’s Read Gods Word, Seek His Face and live in His truths and we will discover ourselves as God intended us to be. When we discover who we are as Jeremiah did, then we can go forth with confidence despite the pitfalls and hold on to what we are sure of. That being, I know who the real me is. It’s the person that God has declared we are and we will walk in to our new being humbly giving thanks and glory to our creator, always remembering we are continuously becoming who He formed us to be. This does not make us better than others it has made us better than we were. Let’s keep others in prayer who are trying to find the real person they were intended to be.
