Today I want to talk about “Storms”
Storms, no one welcomes them with open hands or hearts. We hear they are coming by the way of broadcasting, newspapers and our neighbors as we travel along our way. Mostly while preparing for a storm the super markets and gas lines are long because no one wants to be caught unprepared. Most times when a storm is predicted it is expected and more than likely it shows up on time. But regardless of the warnings, or predictions there will more than likely be someone who has not made any preparations. Thus bringing me to today’s topic.
Just as we hear about the expectancy of a storm, there is another prediction of expectancy and an anticipation of the second coming of Jesus Christ; which we have heard whether through preaching, reading, songs or our neighbors. I am 49 years old and I can remember my grandmother declaring the coming of Jesus Christ since I was five years of age. Grandma was an evangelist who became a pastor. She rehearsed His coming in my little ears every chance she got because she wanted to teach me how to prepare. Because she was my grandma I believed her and although she is with her Savior, I believe He is going to return one day as predicted. With this belief I find myself in preparation daily by reading, studying and applying His word to my life. Here it is 44 years later in my lifetime and yes, I am still awaiting His return and realizing He is getting closer. Although, this blessed event has not been manifested it does not negate the fact that there should be some preparation on our part. Maybe people do not prepare because they don’t believe a storm when predicted will happen as it is predicted. Comments like “it won’t be that bad or “I will believe it when I see it” does not prevent the storm.
Presently, Connecticut is going through a storm. We have accumulated 4-5ft of snow. Churches, schools, businesses have been closed for four days. Transportation has either been interrupted or delayed. On Thursday, February 7, 2013 the supermarkets were full with people and empty of supplies. Just as the gas lines were full with awaiting vehicles to be filled but there was no gasoline left. I couldn’t resist an opportunity to mention the coming of Jesus Christ so I stood flat foot in the supermarket as my audience looked on. Of course just like the storm coming, some received, others may have figured they still have time and finally the group of unbelievers desiring for me to be quiet. However, just as the storm came. Jesus Christ is coming back again. True, no man knows the day or hour that the son of man will return (Matthew 24:36) but He, Jesus Christ is and it would be in our best interest to prepare through prayer, reading the bible and learning of His ways and truths. Ready or not Jesus Is Coming Back.
