Today I want to talk about “Grateful vs. Happy”
I have been asked on several occasions “am I happily married” My response after four years seems to remain the same. I’m happy but I am more grateful.
Happiness last as long as things are going according to plan in a positive manner. But what happens when hubby and I don’t agree or decide we are getting on each other’s nerves?
That’s right, you are reading correctly. To those of you who continue to support my website, know I believe in keeping it real! To you that are joining for the first time just keep reading and I am sure you will visit me again.
Now that the stage has been set let’s examine this topic further. Happiness is temporal and gratefulness is constant. Happiness is a mood while gratefulness is a state of being. I have to think why I am happy but to be grateful is simply to think and thank. I can’t necessarily always choose to be happy. However, I’m grateful for the ability to know that happiness will eventually appear as the sun appears through the clouds. You don’t always know when happiness will arrive but gratefulness is ever present because when you really think about it….there is always something to be grateful for even if you’re not happy right now. Grateful manifests itself even in the saddest and hardest of times.
Yes I am happy to be married, happy in my marriage but I’m more grateful for my marriage through all its challenges because grateful declares we will make it, as long as we stay grateful to have each other.
I chose marriage as an example to make this point. Now you search and find your own point.
Ask yourself, “am I just happy or grateful”? Trust me it will be a great conversational piece.
