What Do You Do When Decisions Are Made For You Because Of Who You Have Associated Yourself With?
Throughout my ministry I have become known for my sermon entitled “WAVE IT AWAY” that speaks about a woman named “RIZPAH”. I have come to find out that most women and men have no clue to who this woman was. I understand how this is possible being that she is only mention 4x in the bible. (2Sam 3:7, 21:8, 10,11)
As a brief synopsis RIZPAH was one of King Saul’s concubines who had two sons by him. Her sons were put to death by hanging because of their fathers sins. As their bodies are hanging, RIZPAH takes off her sackcloth, spreads it on a rock in Gibeah and watches over their dead bodies for five months (harvest time until rain dropped from heaven) protecting them by waving away any fowl or beast that would try to eat on their dead bodies and this is told to King David and she becomes famous for this act of love.
What do you do when decisions are made for you because of who you have associated yourself with? Looking at RIZPAH’s situation, she was chosen to be Saul’s wife and because of it her sons are now dead. She had no say in either of these circumstances. Now she finds herself grieving over everything that meant anything to her, her sons.
Yet she gets herself together even in this sadness of time. She decides this situation is dead, as my sons are dead and there is nothing I can do about their life but I will go and take off my sackcloth, place myself on this rock and even though I couldn’t protect them while they were alive from this horrible death I can protect their dead bodies from not allowing anything to eat on my “babies”.
She shows her love, faithfulness, commitment and dedication to the issue that means the most to her. Whether through crying, grieving, heavy heart, probably angry for awhile with God, she still finds a way to go on, she continues to wave away everything negative that could destroy what she had left.
In conclusion it does matter what decisions were made by others that affected your life. What also matters is, what are you going to do with the hand that was dealt to you? Do you sit and complain or do you stand and conquer it? Hopefully, you choose the second option. Even while your crying, grieving, hurting etc.
Get something in your hand and begin waving away anything and everything, anyone and everybody that would be guilty of making your situation worst and eventually, you will see your harvest time manifested.
