“What is Total Healing” 

Sickness is not an easy condition to deal with no matter how mild or extreme it has a great affect.  Let’s look at a common cold which brings discomfort and most times over the counter medications can relieve us.  However, if unattended the common cold can lead to something more serious.  Unfortunately, I am a witness and some may say a victim to this.  A common cold with common systems led to rheumatic fever which led to rheumatoid arthritis which is a crippling kind of arthritis, I have suffered with for twenty three years.  What I found out later was I had been bitten by a tick which led to cold like symptoms but in reality was strep throat, untreated strep led to rheumatic fever which eventually led to rheumatoid arthritis.  I woke up one morning attempted to get out of bed and fell flat on the floor.  My joints had given out and I needed a wheel chair and eventually walking with a cane.  I became an envalent to the point where I could not take care of myself.  Daily functions had become a thing of the past for me.  My hands, feet and joints began to be in a crippling stage which kept getting worst.  Flare ups, extreme pain, fatigue, several medications in high doses and my children (very young) were now my care takers.  I popped pills like an addict to get some relief to where I could function for a few hours a day.  According to my parent, as a child I didn’t  even have a cold and from what I remember, as an adult  I never complained of being sick so now I was wondering, how and why was this happening to me.  This disease had changed my life affecting me in every aspect.  

 I had heard that God was a healer, I had read the bible about all His healings, However, I never witnessed Him personally as a healer but chose to believe He was.  That should have been enough for me but in my ignorance I kept praying to know God as a healer.  Now here I was sick with this crippling disease feeling sorry for myself and asking God why me?  Eventually, the answer came it was because I asked?  Now twenty three years later, I’m asking Him daily to heal me.

The bible states “by His stripes we are healed” Isa 53:5, I Peter 2:24.  Matthew 10:1 He gave the disciples power to heal all manner of sickness and diseases.  Today these scriptures are true and we too have the same power.  So if these scriptures are true, and we profess to be Christians practicing and living by God’s words then why is there so much sickness in the land?  We all have different thoughts as well as opinions some may even be factual.  This can be studied more in depth but as for me the scripture that strikes my attention is John 11:34 Jesus states the sickness of this individual was not unto death but for the Glory of God.  I choose to believe that in all things one way or another God is to be and will be glorified even in sickness.

I am still diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, getting a monthly injection through an IV and the symptoms and pain is real limiting my daily abilities sometimes however, its controlled as best can be.  You may asked, “So how is God being glorified?  Well I never blamed God for my sickness and I have seen His mercy towards me even in my ignorance.  I grabbed a hold to all scriptures regarding healing and find myself quoting them throughout these twenty three years.  I am a witness that if you have the faith and continue to believe God’s word, He and only Him will give you the strength to deal with the sickness or disease as you continue to trust Him for healing.  Today I can report the outcome of my faith, I went from five medications to ONE, if you ask my doctor, he will tell you that the bones in my hands, feet and knees are totally deteriorated and above all I SHOULD BE CRIPPLED!!!  In my conclusion, there are days I feel so much pain and I cry but I thank God for seeing a new day.  YES even in this I believe and know God is a healer and every day I will believe and ask Him to heal me completely and in the meantime (as Paul) I choose to accept HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR ME.  Total healing is more than a manifestation it’s a mindset that you can only have in trusting God.
